Interior Renovation with an Exterior Bathtub in the Patio

Interior renovation of a single-family home in El Clot, Barcelona. This project focused on transforming a traditional single-family house in the El Clot neighborhood into a bright, elegant, and contemporary home. The original house was dark, highly compartmentalized, and turned its back on a generous rear patio. Our goal was to fully open up the space, creating a fluid, modern layout that maximizes natural light and connects the home with its outdoor areas.

At the heart of the project is the new open-plan kitchen, designed with a central island and a breakfast nook that invite family gatherings and everyday comfort. This area flows seamlessly into the dining and living spaces, all oriented toward the garden. The large opening onto the patio was carefully designed to slide into the wall, allowing for an uninterrupted transition between interior and exterior. The result is a continuous living space in which the garden becomes a natural extension of the home.

The patio itself was redesigned to include a private swimming pool, creating a tranquil retreat ideal for both relaxation and entertaining. To bring harmony to the interior, we also modernized the staircase with a clean, contemporary design, integrating it into the overall renovation.

Open plan and timeless colour palette

To improve functionality and subtly define the spaces, we introduced an iron sliding door that separates the entrance hall from the main living area. Throughout the home, lighting played a key role: the combination of recessed lights and strategically placed fixtures enhances the sense of warmth and intimacy, making the house feel both open and inviting.

A neutral color palette was chosen throughout, bringing elegance and timelessness. Combined with natural materials and clean lines, the design creates a calm and sophisticated atmosphere suited to contemporary urban living in Barcelona.
