Concept Space in Barcelona
This project develops a brand-driven interior concept in Barcelona, defined by a careful balance between budget consciousness, material clarity, and a strong spatial identity. The design translates the essence of the brand into a cohesive environment through custom timber furniture, ceramic surfaces, and a subtle but distinctive lilac grout detail, creating a recognisable and functional commercial space. The project also included the full process of activity licensing, ensuring compliance and feasibility from design to operation.
The project builds its identity through a clear and consistent spatial branding strategy, where architecture and graphic identity merge into one unified experience. Rather than relying on applied decoration, the brand is embedded in the architecture itself, using material repetition, proportion, and carefully calibrated colour accents to create recognition and continuity across the space.
Budget-Conscious Design Strategy
A key driver of the project is its budget-conscious approach, which informed both material selection and construction methods. The design prioritises simplicity, efficiency, and durability without compromising spatial quality. By focusing on essential interventions, the project achieves a strong architectural presence while maintaining cost control, construction rationality, and a streamlined implementation process that also facilitated the activity licensing approval.
Material System and Furniture Design
The interior is structured around a system of custom-made wooden furniture, designed to maximise functionality and reduce construction complexity. These timber elements define key programmatic zones while ensuring flexibility and long-term durability. In parallel, the use of white ceramic finishes with lilac grout introduces a subtle graphic layer that differentiates mobile furniture and the service counter, reinforcing the brand identity through a refined and cost-effective material gesture.
A key resolution of the project lies in the integration of design, construction, and licensing strategy into a single coherent process. By aligning spatial design decisions with regulatory requirements, including the activity license, the project ensured a smooth transition from concept to execution. The combination of budget-efficient construction, custom timber elements, and a controlled ceramic material system allowed the project not only to define a strong brand identity, but also to achieve full operational viability within regulatory frameworks.
